Hops® endured a few iterations before it became what it is today......

And its evolution has really taught me the meaning of a “blessing in disguise”

When the C-word shut down hospitality, things felt pretty bleak in the industry.

Back then, we had a choice. We could wait for things to return to "normal," or we could use this disruption as an opportunity to solve real problems.

At the time, Hops was essentially a collection of disconnected bespoke applications, born out of the necessity to keep our growing base of iKentoo POS (Now Lightspeed K-Series) customers happy.

We knew we were onto something, but it wasn’t quite there.

Restaurant operators were juggling multiple disconnected systems……..each solving one piece of the puzzle but creating friction everywhere else, and our approach at the time wasn't exactly helping; giving them multiple other applications to help plug the gaps.....

The customer experience suffered, operations became unnecessarily complex and growth was harder than it needed to be.

The pandemic became our crucible: with (a lot of) spare time on our hands, we took a look at how we could reimagine this tool to create real change in hospitality.

We:

• Asked: What if hospitality technology actually worked together?
• Aggregated individual solutions into a cohesive product
• Created a platform that truly understands operator challenges
• Built something that could help businesses transform

Hops was born from this moment of crisis, when the world was so quiet that we could actually pop the bonnet, get our hands dirty and build something of true VALUE.

Today: it’s the foundational piece of software I wish we'd had 10 years ago to recommend!!
