Founder POV: Most hospitality tech in the market tries to “eliminate the chaos”.

Most hospitality tech in the market tries to “eliminate the chaos”.

But the reality is: the chaos maketh the industry!!!!

The 1st segment in our Hospitality Operators OS series is Source: everything ordering and procurement. The PERFECT start to prove my point.

Ordering in hospitality is never a neat process.

Even in a single-site operation, it’s a glorious mess of:

  • Telephone-only orders from your bespoke mushroom guy
  • Emails to your dry goods wholesaler
  • A PDF for the central kitchen order
  • A requisition from another site
  • An online portal for drinks

And what most tech suppliers don’t realise is that this complexity is what makes the operation successful.

Many operations won't scale to 100s of sites in the UK because their uniqueness is where the magic happens.

And that magic depends on letting each site do things their own way:

🧄 Their produce 🧑‍🌾 Their suppliers 👬 Their people 🍷 Their ambience

That’s the beauty of hospitality. But it’s a tricky beast.

The challenge is protecting that uniqueness at site level while still giving head office the clarity, control and financial accuracy needed to scale.

This is the exact problem we’re solving:   → How do you EMBRACE the chaos? → How do you mould tech to FIT the chaos?

Embracing the chaos, as it’s often the fuel that makes businesses unique, whilst not loosing control, and costing the business gazillions…. You can have both with Hops®

In the next few posts, we’re diving deep into our Source segment:

  • From supplier + product setup,
  • The difference between stock and inventory
  • To dealing with delivery shortages, credit notes
  • And much more
